Green demand return programs for illegal weapons

Vienna – The Greens are calling for a return program for non -registered weapons. The high number of illegal weapons, which according to estimates in Austria are in circulation, is a serious security risk. The Greens argue that international examples such as Serbia or New Zealand would show that buyback and amnesty programs work. Therefore, Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP) should also implement such a program in Austria, according to the claim.
