The judge accepts as proof of telephone interceptions to Uribe in 2018
Judge Sandra Liliana Heredia has accepted as evidence the telephone interceptions made by the Supreme Court to former president Álvaro Uribe in March 2018. He has rejected the approach of the defense that the recordings, in which the former president speaks with his lawyer Diego Cadena, were an action of “bad faith” by justice. According to the judge, they were an error as it was the line of former congressman Nilton Córdoba – Uribe’s telephone was associated with him in a file – but was “involuntary.” “It is a delicate lack that was the result of dispersed information [en el expediente]not a malicious fault, ”he said.
Heredia also took into account that justice ceased the interceptions barely noticed the error. “It is relevant that the protocols were activated and the cancellation was managed,” he said. For her, this showed “the diligence and good faith”, of the officials.
“The inviolability of communications is enshrined as a fundamental right, but it is not an absolute right,” said Heredia.
