The President of the Republic says he will still have to read the law of nationality to realize if he sends it to the Constitutional Court.
The President of the Republic guaranteed this Sunday that he has not yet read the Law of Nationality and pointed out doubts about the Foreign Law, thus requesting the preventive supervision of the proposal for revision to the Constitutional Court (TC).
“I have not read the law of nationality, it will in principle be voted in September and therefore, I will follow the same system that is after voting and arrives in Bethlehem, I naturally examine if there is any problems of unconstitutionality or if there is any political problem and, if it is so, I will promulgate,” he said.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who spoke to journalists in Marvão, Portalegre district, on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of Marvão’s International Music Festival, stood to comment on the reaction of the parties after sending the Foreigners Law to the TC.
Asked by journalists about his doubts about the law, the President of the Republic warned that “several entities” raised doubts and that they correspond to the doubts he had.
“They are there (document sent to the TC), are in my explanation and which correspond to the doubts that were raised by various entities and, therefore it is good that there is certainty, the TC is worth preventing than remedy, will look and will be justified, if it is not justified, and the certainty of the right is defined,” he said.
“Because in our system, otherwise, what happens is that, if there is doubts, any court can at any moment arise this doubt and then go up to the TC and it is there, much later and with any differences, that the Court of foreshadowing,” he added.
Regarding health services closed this weekend, the President of the Republic also declined to comment, only underlined that accompanies what is happening in relation to this matter.
