In its fourth final of, the women’s team once again came close, but was without the long -awaited gold medal. Back in Brazil after the passage through Poland, in the decisive phase of the competition, coach José Roberto Guimarães evaluated the Brazilian campaign and highlighted the offensive efficiency as a point of attention that separated the team of the main objective in the competition

In the confrontation with Italy, current Olympic champion, two-time VNL champion and selection to be beaten on the world scenario, Brazil showed difficulty defining counterattacks, a factor that weighed to the Italian victory for 3 sets to 1.
-The numbers were very similar, number of blockages and defenses, they make more loot than us, but what made the difference really was the counterattacks. They were more efficient, especially with both opposite – analyzed the coach.
Another factor that contributed to the problems in the Brazilian attack was the absence of the Ana Cristina tip, injured during the match against France, in the third week of VNL. The 21 -year -old player had been the main highlight of the national team and appeared as the highest scorer, with 167 points, until he suffered the injury in the medial meniscus of the left knee. According to Zé Roberto, the athlete was missed at the Brazilian ball.
– Ana’s absence was very suffering for several reasons. First as a person, she is a dear person, everyone loves to live with her, relates very well to the group. The other question is that she is a big defining, she was being our Definitor of the high balls, the tough balls, and when you lose a player like that, it makes a tremendous missing. But the important thing is her recovery, she doing a good recovery, comes back very well, expectation is high for next year – said.

The Brazilian women’s team returns to the courts from August 22 to September 7, when the Volleyball World Cup in Thailand takes place. The team led by Zé Roberto is already re-presenting this Friday (1), when he will start training for the competition.
In the first world stage, the 32 participating teams were organized into eight groups of four teams, with everyone facing each other. Brazil is part of Group C, alongside Puerto Rico, France and Greece. See below the national team game schedule.
