The Italian government called on the Russian ambassador to Rome for explanations. It is a move by the Italian Foreign Ministry, which is a protest against its government’s decision to integrate Italian President of the Republic, Sergio Matarella, to European leaders who are “responsible for rhetorical hatred against Russia”.
The Senate of Rome today expressed its solidarity with the Italian president. The same list of names of Western leaders and politicians includes Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tayyani and Italian Defense Minister Guindo Crozetto.
