This Wednesday, the entire Iberian Peninsula is being harassed by fires that are difficult to control. The Ávila fire, 150 kilometers from Madrid, is the one that most worries the Spanish authorities.
In the locality of El Arenal, no one comes in and no one leaves and Electricity was also cut, because the Village is isolated by fire. Fueled by gusts of over 30 km/h, Ávila’s fire has been controlled all night.
It started on Monday, it has destroyed hundreds of hectares of forest and is the one that most worries the Spanish authorities.
Firefighters do what they can, protecting houses and removing the people they find along the way.
This Tuesday, a 58-year-old firefighter died. There was an accident in the private car during the trip to the fire.
The reinforcements are coming from the capital and from all over the country. The Military Emergency Unit is already on the ground, with almost 170 military personnel and 60 vehicles. They carry drones and infrared cameras, as well as heavy machinery.
In another large fire in Spain, in Cáceres, 230 military personnel and 88 vehicles are supporting almost two hundred firefighters. This fire has already forced to withdraw more than 200 people from home.
