This time I will give a recipe for vegetables in the Gyros Lagoon – You can buy this popular spice in a store or prepare yourself. I have already captivated these preserves, which is why I made them space on several shelves. Now it’s time for you.

Gyros is a combination of mixtures of spices from Greek and Turkish cuisine. Most often we use this spice to season the meats, but this time we will use it for cucumbers.

What ingredients do we need to do Gyros to make? Here is the list:

  • 3 tablespoons of sweet pepper;
  • 1.5 teaspoons of dried garlic;
  • 1.5 teaspoons of dried onions;
  • 1.5 teaspoons of coriander;
  • 1.5 teaspoons of chili peppers;
  • 1 teaspoon of rosemary;
  • 1 teaspoon of marjoram;
  • 1 teaspoon of thyme;
  • 0.5 teaspoons of white mustard;
  • 0.5 teaspoons of turmeric;
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon;
  • 2 grains fucking black;
  • 1 grain of allspice,
  • Salt and sugar to taste.

To make a Gyros spice, at the beginning I rub coriander, pepper and allspice in a mortar, and then add the remaining spices and repeat this process. Finally, season with salt and sugar to taste. I store in a tight container.

Ingredients:

  • 2 kg of ground cucumbers;
  • 3 red peppers;
  • 3 onions;
  • 2 carrots;
  • 1.5 cups of 10%spirit vinegar;
  • 1.5 cups of sugar;
  • 1 cup of water;
  • 70 ml of oil;
  • 3 tablespoons of Gyros spice;
  • 2 tablespoons of salt;
  • 1 teaspoon mustard.

Preparation:

At the beginning I wash cucumbers in cold water and cut them into slices 2 cm thick. Then I throw these cleaned and chopped vegetables into a bowl.

Then I cut the remaining vegetables: cubes, onions into feathers and carrots in slices. I add them to cucumbers, and then sprinkle with salt and mix.

In the next step I make the Gyros lagoon. For this purpose, I heat the vinegar with water and dissolve sugar. I cool it all, then add oil. I also add Gyros and mustard spice. I mix everything to combine the ingredients and pour salted vegetables with a prepared marinade. I cover them and leave them for 8 hours.

After this time, I put the vegetables into jars, tightly turn off and pasteurize in a pot. I leave cucumbers in the Gyros Lagoon, and then move them to the pantry. They are ready to eat after 4 days.

As you can see Cucumbers in the Gyros Lagoon also have other vegetables, so you can treat them as a full -fledged salad for dinner. They match various meats, i.e. chops, baking, pork knuckles, ribs.

They will also work as an addition to grilled dishes. I also serve them to burgers, casseroles or sandwiches instead of canned. They taste great as a cold starter on the party table in combination with cheese, sausages or pate.
