In an interview in the premiere episode of the program “Root of the Business”, partnership between Infomoney and The Agribiz, JBS Global CEO Gilberto Tomazoni said that Brazil loses a lot of competitiveness in terms of exports with the tariff promoted by US President Donald Trump. “Brazil will seek other markets, as it has been doing, but the short -term impact is undeniable,” said the executive.
In charge of a Brazilian brand that earns more than $ 1 billion a day, which annually comes to figures that exceed the GDP of some Latin American countries, Tomazoni states that the rate of tariffs is not yet clear and what the consequences will be – especially in the medium and long term.

Still, the executive maintains an optimistic tone: “I still believe the negotiations will walk, will resolve and get to a good term.”

For JBS, impact is controlled by global diversification
Despite the risk for Brazilian agriculture, Tomazoni pointed out that, for JBS, the impact of new tariffs tends to be limited. This is due to the model of diversification – geographical and portfolio – adopted by the company in recent years. “It may be relevant to one plant or another, but globally the effect is not so large. We always work diversification to reduce volatility,” he explained.

According to Tomazoni, this strategic construction was not only designed to deal with tariffs, but to face any event that affects the natural cycles of global agribusiness.
