With the use of drones and satellite images, the teams intensified inspection at critical environmental pressure points. Approaches were made to vehicles in rural areas and on -site surveys, which revealed 20 active deforestation outbreaks, most without any kind of environmental licensing.
During the operation, wood loads were also seized that were being transported without valid documentation, configuring environmental crime. Those responsible for the deforested areas and irregular transportation were assessed and notified, according to the legislations that regulate land use and the exploitation of natural resources.
According to the bodies involved, the action was strategic and reinforces the state’s commitment to protecting the Amazon rainforest. “The joint work is fundamental to curb illegal practices that endanger the environmental balance and sustainable development of the region,” said one of the coordinators of the operation.
