Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided

The prime minister decided to occupy entirely to, reported on Monday (4) channel 12, one of Israel’s main, based on sources from the country’s government. According to the channel, the prime Minister should announce the decision on Tuesday (5). Currently, the Israel army occupies about 75% of Palestinian territory. If confirmed, the decision occurs amid the aggravation of the political crisis in Israel and the pressure on Netanyahu for the end of the war with the terrorist group Hamas. Earlier, the government unanimously voted for the dismissal of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Humara, expanding a stalemate with the judiciary who, according to critics, threatens Israel’s democratic institutions.

Voting occurs amid protests for a ceasefire with the terrorist group Hamas, who have intensified in recent days, after the release of videos where two Israeli hostages, Rom Braslavski and Evyatar David, appear visibly malnourished and weakened. The dismissal of the prosecutor was suspended by the Supreme Court, while the analysis of its legality is made. The Civic Surveillance Group “Movement for a Quality Government in Israel” also sent an emergency petition after the vote, with signatures of 15,000 citizens who consider the decision illegal.

“The government changed the dismissal procedures only after failing to remove it by legal ways,” they reported. Protesters claim that dismissal is part of an offensive to weaken the country’s judicial system and that constant impasses are also personal to Netanyahu. The prime minister is investigated and is being tried for crimes of corruption, fraud, breach of confidence and bribery. For many, the situation represents a conflict of interest.

This is not the first time Netanyahu has been accused of weakening the judiciary. In 2023, his attempted judicial reform generated months of mass protests and, according to many Israeli, weakened the country’s response to Hamas attack in October – the fuse of the current conflict.
