The Netherlands announced on Monday that it will become the first NATO country to buy air defense systems from the United States and will supply them to Ukraine. TASR informs according to the DPA report.

“Ukraine now needs more air defense and ammunition,” The Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans said in a post on the Platform X. “As the first ally NATO, the Netherlands will deliver a package of US weapon systems (including Patriot parts and missiles) worth € 500 million). This will help Ukraine to defend itself and the rest of Europe against Russian aggression,” added.
In July, US President Donald Trump announced that it will allow the sale of US anti -missile systems Patriot to European NATO countries, which will subsequently supply them to Ukraine. “The Netherlands is the first country to build on an agreement on weapons between NATO and the US, which includes the purchase of US air defense systems for Ukraine,” The Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said at X.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj, who talked to Schoof on Monday, said it was “The sincerely grateful the Netherlands for their substantial contribution to strengthening the Ukrainian air shield”.
“The package is worth € 500 million and includes US weapons including rockets for Patriot systems. The first such step between NATO countries and time when Russia is trying to intensify its attacks. This will certainly help protect our people’s lives! ” added Žrenskyj.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced on Friday that Berlin will deliver Ukraine in the following days the Patriot launcherresembles DPA. He added that the other components of the system will be delivered over the next two to three months to strengthen the Ukrainian air defense for additional Patriot batteries.
