USA say they will be responsible for those who help Moraes – 04/08/2025 – Power

The government said it condemns the decision of the minister, the (Supreme Federal Court), that of the former president () and will be responsible for those who help “sanctioned conduct” of the magistrate.

Positioning was done by post at the X (former Twitter) post on the office page for the Western Hemisphere of the State Department, which deals with American diplomacy.

“Minister Moraes, now sanctioned by the US as a human rights violator, continues to use Brazilian institutions to silence opposition and threaten democracy. Imposing even more restrictions on Jair Bolsonaro’s ability to defend publicly is not a public service. Let Bolsonaro speak!” Says the message.

“The order of Moraes that imposes house arrest to Bolsonaro and will be responsible for all those who assist or collaborate with sanctioned conduct,” the text continues.

Moraes determined on Monday (4) the house arrest of Bolsonaro, who was president of Brazil between 2019 and 2022 and defendant in lawsuit about a coup plot at the end of his government.

The magistrate stated that the former president broke determination prior to appearing in videos displayed by supporters during demonstrations on Sunday (3). Bolsonaro was forbidden to use social networks, even if intermediate.

The decision makes him the fourth occupant of the maximum position in the country to be arrested since the redemocratization – before him, had the same destination Fernando Collor, (PT) and ().

Moraes prohibited visits to house arrest, except from lawyers and authorized persons in the file, and vetoed the use of cell phones, directly or through others. The STF minister also stated that the breach of house arrest will result in the decree of pre -trial detention.
