Commentator José Eduardo Cardozo and the businessman and former federal deputy Alexis Fonteyne discussed, this Friday (8), in The Great Debate (Monday to Friday, at 11 pm), if the US risk apply more sanctions to Brazil recently increased.

Cardozo does not rule out the existence of new sanctions to Brazil.

“That president who does not follow even the Constitution itself, with total democratic detachment, who defends freedom of expression but is the first to pure and simply students who make peaceful manifestations in defending Palestine is possible to take the hard and authoritarian measures. In fact, everything the Trump government has done shows this feature.”

“If we have this all -placed picture, can we expect more sanctions? We can expect anything from Donald Trump. Donald Trump effectively has a geopolitical project,” he continues.

Fonteyne sees economic sanctions as negative. According to him, they feed a narrative of “imperialism”, but argues that federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) is not responsible behind.

“Sanctions against an economic country, as happened against Cuba and Venezuela, do not result. This only feeds the discourse of imperialism, the discourse that the population cannot discern,” he said.
