Shortly after the Nazis’ seizure of power, in August 1938, Alois Maier-Kaibitsch, head of the “Volksständstelle” of the Gaus Carinthia, commissioned a study: Three German-national Carinthian scientists around Herbert Paschinger should search for a community to identify “National Slovenen”.
