The funeral of the singer and songwriter Arlindo Cruzwho died at age 66 last Friday (8), is being held on the court of the samba school Serrano Empirein the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, this Saturday (9).
The ceremony, which began at 18h, is open to the public. The burial will take place on Sunday (10) at Jardim da Saudade Cemetery, in Sulacap, at 11am. In a big screen, historical images of the sambista were displayed alongside dozens of wreaths.
The family asked people to prioritize clear clothes at the ceremony, especially white. The funeral is one, which manifests itself in festive wake, marked by music, dance, food and drink.
The goal is to celebrate the lives of those who broke and soften the pain of loss, transforming mourning into honor and joy. The school’s battery also presents during the wake.
