With hundreds of candidates being proposed each year, Nobel laureates are selected by the Norwegian Nobel Prize Commission, whose five members are appointed by the Norwegian parliament in accordance with the will of the Swedish 19th -century Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel.
Some countries, including Israel, Pakistan and Cambodia, have proposed Trump for the Nobel, for the mediation of the US president in peacekeeping agreements or truce, and he has said that he is worth the highest distinction, with which they have been honored.
Trump’s obsession with Nobel and duties
The announcement comes in October in Oslo. The Norwegian newspaper reveals that this is not the first time Trump brought to the award in a conversation with Stoltenberg, a former secretary general of the NATO military alliance.
According to the report, Stoltenberg said the telephone communication was made to discuss trade duties and the financial cooperation before the US President’s telephone conversation with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Sterre.
Asked if Trump raised the Nobel Prize as an issue, Stoltenberg replied: “I will not expand more about the content of the conversation.”
White house officials, including US Finance Minister Scott Bessed and US commercial spokesman Jameson Green, participated in the phone call, Stoltenberg said.
