The president today expressed optimism about the possibility of peace between the Russian president and his Ukrainian counterpart.
“I think it’s going to be a good meeting,” Trump told reporters. “However, the most important meeting will be the second we are planning.”
“We will have a meeting with President Putin, President Zelenski, me and maybe some European leaders. Maybe not. We will see,” he said.
At the same time, he stressed that he would like to see a second meeting between Russian President Putin and Ukrainian President Zelenski in Alaska.
Trump is scheduled to meet with Putin in Alaska tomorrow.
“I would say tomorrow, all I want to do is prepare the table for the next meeting, which should take place soon. I would like to see it actually happen, maybe in Alaska,” Trump said.
