Singer participated in the inaugural session of SP2B – São Paulo Beyond Business, an event that presented the Creativity and Technology Festival that will take place in August 2026 in the main park of the city
After the death of his daughter, he had a simpler audience than those who have been attending the Time King Turning since March, but was equally exciting. During the performance, the singer played again Drão, music he made for Sandra Gadelha, Black’s mother, and spoke briefly about her daughter’s death. The singer died on July 20, at age 50, after a long treatment against cancer. Gil would do a concert in Belém on August 9, but postponed the presentation. Already this Sunday (17), he played for about an hour at the inaugural session of SP2B – Sao Paulo Beyond Business, in the Ibirapuera auditorium. The event, closed for guests, presented the Creativity and Technology Festival that will take place in August 2026 in the main Parque Paulistano. In addition to Gil, the Israeli historian Yuval Noah Harari was present, who gave a lecture followed by a dialogue with journalist Pedro Bial.
The 83 -year -old singer opened the periphery punk show, still “hidden” under a grid and lights. When it appeared entirely, it was cheered by the audience, which occupied most of the 800 places in the auditorium. He thanked everyone and greeted Harari, whom he called one of the most interesting thinkers of contemporary times.
Gil remained sitting, playing guitar, and was accompanied by two of his children: José Gil, on drums, and well Gil, on the guitar, both the result of the marriage to Flora Gil.
