Spanish airports received 63.7 million international passengers until July, 6% more than in 2024 | Economy

Spanish airports received 63.7 million between January and July of this year, which represents an increase of 6% with respect to the same period of the previous year. At the gates of the summer bridge, only in the seventh month, by air coming from abroad, amounted to 11.7 million, 4.3% year -on -year, as can be seen from the data of Turespaña, published on Tuesday by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism.

The six autonomous communities headed by the arrivals – Community of Madrid, Catalonia, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Andalusia and Community Valencian – monopolized 97% of the total. All recorded increases, being the most bulky that of the Valencian Community (8.2%) and the most moderate that of the Balearic Islands (1.2%).

The Community of Madrid concentrated 22.9% of the arrival of international tourists to Spain during the first seven months of 2025, with 14,562,502 visitors, 4.5% more than the previous year. This influx to the region placed as the one that received the most arrivals, with a total of 14,562,376 until July. Of them 3,175,349 corresponded to low -cost companies, with an interannual increase of 4%, while the remaining 11,027 were in traditional companies (+4.7%).

This enclosure received 2,271,709 visitors during the month of July, which represents 19.4% of the national total and represents 2.5% more than in the seventh month of 2024. The following airport per influx was the Prat,, with around two million international passengers (4.9%), followed by the palm terminal, with 1.8 million arrivals (0.8%). The greatest increase compared to July 2024 was reached by Alicante Airport, with 8.3% more travelers than in the same month of the previous year.

The issuing markets

The main passenger issuing markets to Spain registered an increase in arrivals during July, with the exception of Germany, from where 1.6 million travelers flew – 13.4% of the total – which meant a slight year -on -year setback of 0.6%. On the other hand, the United Kingdom issued 2.7 million travelers and generated 23.1% of the total arrivals, pointing an interannual advance of 4%.

In addition, passengers from Italy arrived 1.1 million, registering a 5%rise, which benefited all communities, except Galicia, who experienced a slight setback. For its part, France issued 7.4% of the total passengers in July, with 867,965, a figure similar to last year, while Netherlands contributed 569,928 travelers. In the chapter of market diversification, Turespaña highlighted the increases of China and South Korea and the recovery of Japan, along with the increases in Türkiye and Colombia.
