Simple, locally, truly
According to the Trends report, Pyszne.pl 2025, Poles are increasingly valuing “honest cuisine”. As many as 70% of Poles choose simple dishes from several qualitative ingredients, instead of extravagant and difficult to recreate dishes. Over half of the respondents cook according to family, proven recipes, and every third respondent considers Polish, home cuisine to be their favorite.
In this culinary landscape, potato, the basis of many traditional dishes, has no competition. The statistics of the United Nations regarding food and agriculture (faostat) confirm – the average Pole eats almost 100 kg of this vegetable annually, which places us in the 5th place in the world ranking of the largest potato fans.
Potato in delivery
French fries are the most commonly ordered addition to Pyszne.pl – up to several million portions a year! Of course, the most popular is their classic edition, although new hits appear on the culinary radar from time to time. Among the fries, more and more supporters are gaining sweet potatoes, while Belgian, although still liked, record a subtle decline in popularity. In addition to the fries in delivery, the choice is usually the choice on the puree.
Lunch tradition
At lunchtime, Poles often feel like Polish flavors, so they willingly use the wealth of native cuisine. However, foreign accents were also included in the ranking of the most popular potato dishes on Pyszne.pl:
- Potato pancakes
- Silesian noodles
- Gnocchi
- Dumplings
- Hungarian pancakes
The second place in the country for Silesian dumplings is largely due to their popularity in Silesia, where this dish occupies a unique place in culinary tradition.
Although fries reign in delivery, Poles are still eager to reach for potato dishes that they remember from their family home. In the world of culinary experiments, it is the potato that remains the most “honest” – simple, local and always in the season.
