Acre was awarded this Thursday (21) with five mobile dental units (UOM), delivered by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva during a ceremony in Sorocaba (SP). The investment in the state is $ 1.89 million, through the new PAC Health.
The units are part of the Smiling Brazil Program, which resumed deliveries after ten years and provides to serve populations from rural areas, indigenous communities, riverside, quilombolas and difficult -to -reach regions. In total, 400 Brazilian municipalities received the vehicles in this first stage, which was also attended by the Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha.

Equipped with dental chair, x-ray, power generator, air conditioning and high complexity instruments, UOMS function as an extension of Basic Health Units (UBS). The vehicles allow from basic care to specialized services, such as canal treatment and the offer of dental prostheses.
According to the Ministry of Health, the fleet will be renewed every five years to ensure the quality and continuity of services. The oral health teams (ESB), composed of dentist and assistant or oral health technician, will be responsible for the operation of the units in Acre.
The Government’s objective is to expand the population’s access to oral health, reduce inequalities and reinforce care in remote locations. By 2026, it is expected that 400 more mobile units will be delivered across the country, totaling 800 new vehicles.
In Acre, the five vehicles should serve smaller municipalities and hard -to -reach areas, strengthening the public oral health network and directly benefiting communities that historically face barriers to access the service.
