Candidate for vice president on the former president’s plate in 2022 has been arrested since December 2023, accused of obstruction of investigations into the coup plot
It concluded that the reserve general violated the precautionary measure imposed by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who prohibited any contact with the former president. The finding is found in the final report on the investigation that investigates the performance of Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) in an attempt to stimulate sanctions from the United States against Brazilian authorities and ministers of the Supreme Court (STF). Bolsonaro and his son have already been indicted, while Braga Netto does not figure as part of this specific process.
Candidate for vice president on the Bolsonaro plate in 2022, Braga Netto has been arrested since December 2023, accused of obstruction of investigations into the coup plot. According to the PF, messages found on Bolsonaro’s cell phone show that he received an SMS from Braga Netto on February 9, 2024, a day after the general was operating in the same inquiry. The communication occurred even after Moraes determined, on February 8, the prohibition of contact between investigated.
The findings also reveal that Braga Netto would have enabled a new mobile number to send the message, linked to a pix key in his name and CPF. “The evidential elements corroborate, therefore, the hypothesis that defendants Jair Bolsonaro and Walter Souza Braga Netto dismissed the precautionary measures of prohibition of maintaining contact,” says the report, citing the investigation related to PET 12.100/DF, which deals with violent abolition crimes of the democratic rule of law.
