The Scientific Police of Paraná concluded, on the afternoon of Thursday (21), the identification of the bodies of the victims of the explosive materials factory explosion In Quatro Barras, Greater Curitiba, on August 12th. The accident at Enaex Brasil’s establishment left nine people dead.
Confirmation of identities was possible due to the joint work of the scientific police, responsible for the genetic identification of tracesand the Civil Police, who carried out the Papilloscopy in the analysis of fingerprints.
The expertise resulted in, analyzed in detail by the laboratories of the two police. The identification of the victims strictly followed the International Protocol of Disaster Victim Identification (DVI), recognized by the scientific methodology in situations of multiple fatalities.
The operation involved about 80 scientific police professionals, who worked in several simultaneous stages: while anthropology teams worked at the explosion site, other professionals performed the separation of biological samples and genetics laboratories have focused exclusively on this case. To speed up identification, family genetic profiles were inserted into the system.
Given the complexity of the scenario, the work required detailed traces collection and the integration of different forensic teams, ensuring technical rigor and speed in the process.

The explosion
Detonation occurred around 6:15 am. The captain of the Paraná Fire Department Luisiana Cavalca detailed the occurrence and said that 11 people were at the scene, two being able to leave and were not hit.
