The (PF) launched on Friday morning (22) Operation Smoke II, the second phase of an investigation that aims at a criminal association specializing in land grabbing, deforestation, burning and falsification of documents in federal public lands in the Amazon. The action takes place in the municipality of Boca do Acre, Amazonas, and Acre. 6 search and seizure warrants were served and 1 warrant of pre -trial detention.

The investigations revealed that the criminal group acted in a structured and continuous way, promoting deforestation of more than 900 hectares of native forest. After deforestation, they performed illegal burning to prepare the areas for clandestine livestock exploration.
To legitimize fraudulent possessions and shield the true responsible, the Association used document falsification, untrue information in official systems, use of “oranges” and simulated contracts. The criminals financed deforestation, illegally leased the embargoed areas, and introduced cattle herds, creating false documentary chains to avoid administrative and criminal penalties.
Operation Smoke II seeks to dismantle this criminal network that, over the years, has explored economically A, causing significant damage to the Union and society.
