Here comes a new Rambo: character of Sylvester Stallone "earns new life" with another actor

The new production, which is expected to start round in Thailand next year, will focus on the military’s formation years during the Vietnam War, before the events of the first 1982 movie.

Noah Centineo was chosen to bring “John Rambo” to life in a saga prequel starring Sylvester Stallone, which featured five films over four decades.

In 2019, Stallone performed at the Cannes Rambo Festival – The Last Battle, The Fifth and Last Film in which she participated as the main actor and also one of the arguments.

The story of this final chapter follows the war veteran who exchanges the quiet of a ranch in Arizona for the violence he was trying to escape by confronting a Mexican cartel.

The film was poorly received by criticism and considered a ticket offer. It had a budget of about 43 million euros, but world revenues were not double, totaling about 79 million.

On the contrary, the saga’s first movie was a huge success. The hero’s fury (1982) cost about 13 million euros and raised more than 108 million worldwide.

It is precisely a prequel of this first movie, spent during the Vietnam War, which is expected to start round next year in Thailand. John Rambo will focus on the years of military formation before the 1982 events.

Who is the new Rambo?

For the lead role was chosen Noah Centineo, 29, an American with Italian and German descent.

He gained notoriety in youthful roles and became known to the general public with the series ‘To all the boys I loved’, from Netflix, and more recently in ‘The Recruit’, in which he plays a young CIA lawyer.

The actor also participated in the action movie Black Adam, with Dwayne Johnson as protagonist, a production that required intense training for increased muscle mass.

Stallone wanted another successor

Despite Centineo’s choice, Sylvester Stallone had already expressed interest in having Ryan Gosling as a successor in the role of Rambo.

Stallone was also a coargent of the second saga film (Rambo II: Revenge, 1985), as well as the third (Rambo III, 1988). In the fourth chapter, Rambo (2008), in addition to co -author of the script, also assumed the realization.

Now 79, Stallone has over 40 years dedicated to John Rambo’s character.
