The US forces deployed in Iraq have begun their withdrawal procedure of the great Iraqi military base of Ain al Asad, in the west of the country, and of the Secondary Air Base of Victoria, near the capital of the capital, Baghdad, according to Iraqi security sources on anonymity.
With this maneuver, the United States responds to the requests formulated for months by the Iraqi government in some conversations interrupted in August last year within the increase in regional tensions and the increase in attacks by proirani militias.
Iraqi security sources have confirmed that US forces are withdrawing to the semi -autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan and neighbor Kuwait, although a “limited” number of troops – right now there is a total of between 2,500 and 3,000 US military in the country – they will stay to continue with their task of training to the Iraqi forces.
