He declared it shortly before the visit of the South Korean President and Če-Mjong in the White House.
US President Donald Trump wrote on his social network Truth on Monday that there is something that resembles “cleansing or revolution” in South Korea. TASR reports this based on reports of Jonhap and AFP.
“What is happening in South Korea? It looks like a cleansing or a revolution,” Trump wrote to Truth Social. “We can’t accept it and do stores there. Today I will meet a new president in the White House,” he added.
Jonhap recalls that in South Korea, the trial with Jun Sok-Jol, who was dismissed by the Constitutional Court in April from office for his attempt of December 2024 to declare martial law, continued.
Jun is in custody and faces an indictment of rebellion. In the event of a conviction, he is in danger of life imprisonment or the death penalty, but the moratorium is applied in South Korea. The ex -president rejects all allegations.
On Sunday, the South Korean Prosecutor’s Office applied for arrest of former Prime Minister Han Tok-Sua, who was accused of helping Jun in the declaration of martial law and later a crucial testimony before the court.
The South Korean President’s office responded to Trump’s statements that it was following the current situation.
AFP concludes that right -wing Jun kept close ties with Washington. Even Če-Mjong comes from the South Korean left, although he expressed his willingness to establish a productive relationship with Trump. He took over the President’s office in early June. On Monday, he and Trump will make a bilateral meeting and later meet at lunch. They should discuss mainly business and defensive topics.
