Andalusia | The lubrín (Almería) fire was caused by an electric line
The forest fire declared last night in the area of the Cubillas, in Lubrín (Almería), which has forced to activate the emergency phase 1 of the Infoca Plan and the preventive eviction of about twenty neighbors in the municipality of Bédar, could have originated from a failure in an electric line, according to municipal sources.
The fire began after 23.00, when the unique emergency telephone of Andalusia began to receive calls from individuals who warned of the presence of a focus in the Barranco Muñoz area, in Lubrín. He immediately mobilized to Civil Guard, Firefighters, Local Police and the infoca troops, who displaced land media to the place. At dawn, support aircraft have been added.
The mayor of Lubrín, Domingo Ramos (PSOE), explained that in the town center of the town there have been no incidents, although “a night in suspense” has been lived in the neighborhoods of El Marchal and Campico de las Moletas, where the flames approached. “In the core of Lubrín there is no problem. In the Alcarria it is more or less controlled, which is where the fire began, in the place of the Muñoz ravine. But in the area of the two nuclei right now there are the media trying to turn off the fire,” he said.
On the causes, Ramos has indicated that several neighbors point to an electric line as a possible origin. “They have seen that I was giving sparkles and possibly has been the reason for the fire,” he said.
The councilor recalled that the municipality has a group of suddenly aid that usually arrives in just five or ten minutes to the conatos and has managed to suffocate small fires on other occasions, although in this case it was impossible. “It has been terrible, at night and in an area with enormous vegetation,” he added.
The mayor of Lubrín has stressed that this is the third fire suffered by the municipality so far in summer and has described the summer campaign as “very complicated.”
The fire also forced to act in the adjacent municipality of Bédar. Its mayor, Ángel Collado (PSOE), explained that everything pointed out that the flames would enter the municipality, which led to ordering the eviction of two small neighborhoods, with about 20 people in total. “Finally, the wind stopped and has not affected us. This morning, early, we have told the neighbors that they could return to their homes,” he said. Collado has admitted that the population lived moments of tension during the night, which have remembered the great fire of 2012. “We have had a complicated one, although everything pointed out that it was not going to affect us,” he said.
