Originally from Japan, ginger is a spice of strong, spicy and slightly sweet flavor. When consumed by tea, it is a good natural alternative to prevent cardiovascular disease through its anti-inflammatory properties. Infusion can also help in the weight loss process.

Ginger tea has other benefits and can relieve nausea, vomiting and strengthen the immune system. According to a study published in the complementary journal Therapies in Medicine in 2022, food can still control glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Nutritionist Leticia Lenzi of Santa Catarina reveals that the properties of tea are not just anti-inflammatory. “In addition to being thermogenic, ginger has analgesic, anticoagulants, antibactericides, antioxidants, antiquatic (against vomiting), detoxifying, digestive, diuretic and vasodilating,” says the professional.

However, to achieve the desired effect, infusion consumption should be combined with a healthy food routine, as well as regular physical activity.

Bioactive nutrients and compounds of ginger tea

  • Gingeoris: responsible for the anti-inflammatory and digestive properties of the drink.
  • Shogais: They are chemical compounds that have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and cytotoxic properties.
  • Zingerona: It has anti-inflammatory, carminative and antiemetic action.
  • TERPENICS: They have antibiotic action and against fungi.
  • Vitamins A, C and B: help in stimulating metabolism and energy production.
  • Minerals (calcium, iron and phosphorus): They assist in combating headaches, muscle aches and preventing cardiovascular disease.

Diuretic effect and protection

Ginger tea helps in the process of weight loss through its diuretic and thermogenic action. While one helps eliminate excess fluids from the body, the other increases body temperature, accelerating metabolism and raising energy expenditure.

Through anti-inflammatory, relaxing, antioxidant, vasodilatory and anticoagulant properties, infusion is still able to protect the heart. Drink consumption promotes the relaxation and elasticity of the arteries, improves blood circulation and aids in the balance of blood pressure.

Because it is versatile, ginger tea can be combined with other ingredients to further enhance its advantages. Among the main suggestions are:

  • Lemon tea and ginger:Increases antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action;

  • Ginger tea with mint:Increases immunity strengthening;
  • Ginger tea with turmeric:enhances anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
