Code 'protected' with the hand? New “PIN INVISABLE” BURLA IN THE ATM SHOWS THAT THIS NOT ARRIVE

Raising money on the ATM is part of the routine of many Portuguese. For years, the advice has always been the same: cover the keyboard by hand while typing the secret code. But a new scheme, called the “invisible pin” by Leak, shows that this care no longer arrives to push the criminals away.

HOW THE “INVISIBLE PIN” COURSE WORKS

According to the Leak website, the burns began to use almost imperceptible devices. The trick consists of placing transparent films on the keyboard or false microtecles fitted over the originals. At first glance they seem part of the machine itself, but actually register each number loaded by the user.

At the same time, they resort to equipment called skimmers to copy card data on the grooves. The customer does the operation normally, raises money and leaves without noticing anything. But the criminals have a full copy of the card and the memorized PIN.

Because it’s so dangerous

Unlike traditional skimming, which depended on cloned cards used above all abroad, this blow gives immediate access to the accounts. With the cloned card and registered code, the burns can raise money or shop on behalf of the victim in the country itself.

Most worrying is that many customers only realize that they were the target of fraud days later, when they consult the bank statement or receive notifications of movements they did not do.

How to identify an adulterated crowd

There are signs that can report manipulation. One is the keyboard to present an out -of -normal look, sometimes higher than usual, giving the feeling of having an extra layer.

It is also common for certain pieces to look loose or move to the touch, something that does not happen in a good condition.

Changes in screen or buttons light, as well as glue marks or imperfect fittings around the card slot, are also indications that the ATM box may have been tampered with.

What to do to protect yourself

Authorities advise to always observe the ATM before starting any operation. Using boxes in busy locations, plugging the keyboard when typing, activating bank movement alerts, and never accepting help from strangers are basic measures to reduce risk.

If it suspects fraud, you should immediately contact the bank to block the card and file a complaint with PSP or GNR.

The so -called “invisible pin” by shows how schemes are increasingly creative and difficult to detect. Purchasing the keyboard remains useful, but it is essential to be aware of the state of the machine and act quickly before any anomaly.
