The court of condemned the district deputy (PP) to pay $ 60,000 for moral damages, after the release of a video in which it associated Afro-Brazilian culture classes with alleged magic rituals.

The case occurred in November last year, when the parliamentarian recorded images inside a classroom in Brasilia. In the video, he criticized the discipline of Afro-Brazilian culture and accused Professor Janete Araújo of promoting religious practices in the school environment.

According to the decision of the 19th Civil Court of Brasilia, Daniel de Castro has 48 hours to remove the air content and publish a public retraction. In case of non -compliance, you may pay a daily fine of $ 15,000. The amount of compensation will be divided between collective reparation and individual compensation for the teacher.

After the sentence, the deputy reacted with criticism. “I received this conviction from a substitute judge at first level yet, right? It’s just the beginning of a process. First to say that I am very quiet. I will appeal in all the necessary instances,” he said.

The parliamentarian also stated that he only replied complaints received from parents of students and defended his performance based on parliamentary immunity.
“I made a denunciation of what I saw, settled in my parliamentary immunity and on the condition of overseeing the government. This case happened inside a school. It was not education of African matrix religions. It’s proven, I have the videos and I will show,” he said.

Daniel de Castro said he trusted in court, but stressed that he will go to the last instance to reverse the decision. “I am convinced that justice must be done, we will reform this sentence. I only regret because I was elected to defend, especially, the people of Brasilia and my faith,” he concluded.
