These insects have a perfectly developed smell and it is the smell of fruit, especially those who break, attracts them to our apartment. They eat yeast from the fermentation process. All they need is a piece of apples, e.g. to lay eggs, larvae quickly take an adult figure. Although the fruit lives, because only 10 days, they reproduce at an express pace, so when they appear better to work quickly. And to prevent their presence, we keep their fruit and vegetables well protected. We quickly throw them into the outer basket. We do the same with open bottles of fermented drinks.
A home way to get rid of fruit flies
One of the home ways to get rid of fruit flies from the house is a jar trap, glass or bowl. Pour 100 ml of water, 100 ml of apple cider vinegar and a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid into the dish. Mix everything so that a delicate foam is formed. We put a slice of apple, pears or peaches on the water. We set such a trap in a place where insects most often appear. Tempted by the aroma of vinegar and apples, they will fall into the water, but thanks to the liquid for washing dishes they will not come out of it. Another way to get rid of the flies is a vacuum cleaner. The fruit is rather slow, so the cloud can be pulled with a pipe of the vacuum cleaner on. To provide insects, it is also worth using fragrances they don’t like. In the kitchen you can set pots with basil and mint, and curtains spray with lavender oil.
