The injured were taken to three hospitals in the Portuguese capital: São José, Santa Maria and São Francisco Xavier. Traffic in the region was interrupted and the judicial police investigate the case. One of the main suspicions for the causes of the accident involves the rupture of one of the tram cables, which derailed and crashed into a building. The president of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa also provided condolences to families affected by the incident.
