According to the analyst, the defense did not present new elements that may prove the former president’s innocence in the investigation investigating the existence of an alleged coup plan. For him, lawyers Celso Vilardi and Paulo Bueno focused on reiterating theses previously presented in the final allegations.
The defense’s argument focused on three main points of the prosecution, seeking. The lawyers challenged the connections established between their client and the authorities’ murder plan, their possible participation in the acts of January 8 and their alleged involvement in the elaboration of a scammer draft.
Regarding the authorities’ murder plan, the defense argued that there is no evidence or evidence that Bolsonaro was aware of the planning, even in the face of information that he visited him from Alvorada’s palace 40 minutes after printing the document related to the plan.
About the acts of January 8, Caio explains that the lawyers addressed the issue of demonstrations in front of the barracks, which would have originated later events. As for the scam plan, the defense maintained that there is no concrete evidence of Bolsonaro’s direct participation in its elaboration, arguing that existing evidence is only witnesses.
For Caio, the oral presentation of lawyers, although not brought news in terms of content, reinforces the arguments already exposed in previous phases of the process.
