Tourism Minister Celso Sabino told President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva that he intends to remain in government even after União Brasil gives 30 days for the politician to leave the petista management.
The conversation took place at the Alvorada Palace on Wednesday, during a lunch also attended by Senate President David Alcolumbre (Union-AP), and Ministers Waldez Góes (National Integration), Frederico Siqueira Filho (Communications) and Gleisi Hoffmann (Institutional Relations).
According to reports, Sabino made clear to Lula the desire to follow the front of the folder and said he will talk to his caption. On Tuesday, the national domes of PP and União Brasil decided will ban all members of occupying positions in government, which affects the future of Sabino and the Minister of Sport, Andre Fufuca (PP) in the government. The president of União Brasil, Antonio Rueda, said that, in case of non -compliance with the determination, there will be removal of the subtitle affiliates.

– In case of non -compliance with this determination, if managers of this federation in its states, there will be a removal in a continuous act. If the permanence persists, the disciplinary punishments provided for in the Statute will be adopted, ”said Rueda.
Also indications linked to União Brasil, Waldez Goes and Frederico Siqueira Filho will not be reached by the decision of the subtitle. In addition to not being affiliated, both were sponsored by David Alcolumbre. Goes and Siqueira Filho also used the meeting to reinforce commitment to petista management.
During lunch, Lula again charged the ministers of União Brasil, asked them to strive to accelerate deliveries and charged a commitment to the government. As I had already done at last week’s ministerial meeting, he asked the ministers again to make a more emphatic defense of petista management against Centrão’s parties criticism.

Celso Sabino’s desire to remain in government is also linked to his electoral claims in 2026. Federal Deputy for Pará, Sabino has plans to run for a Senate vacancy in Pará in 2026 on the plate with Governor Helder Barbalho (MDB). According to interlocutors, Lula would have already signaled Sabino who would support him in the dispute. In 2022, Lula won the presidential dispute in Pará with 54% of the votes.
Even before the minister verbalizes to the President his desire to stay in office, the surroundings of Lula already evaluated how unlikely that Celso Sabino leaves the position less than 70 days for the holding of COP 30 in Belém. This week, while União Brasil was rebelled against the government, Sabino returned his agenda: Tuesday was at the 1st Tourism Conference of Curionópolis and Serra Pelada to meet a cooperative.
In the assessment of Lula’s assistants, the regional scenarios of Fufuca and Celso Sabino weigh more than the national agreements of the leaders of their subtitles and that both still want to have the petista in their comeback next year. For this wing, the economic scenario itself, with falling inflation and low food price, in addition to the popularity of Lula growing, also weighs in the assessment of ministers to remain.
