Singer Filipe Ret, 40, was the name chosen to open the work of the main stage of The Town 2025. Carioca performs at Skyline, this Saturday (6), at 15h50.
The American Travis Scott is the big attraction of the first day of the second edition of and will also be on Skyline like this, as well as Burna Boy and Don Toliver. On the same date, names such as Lauryn Hill (Comyg Marley and Zion Marley), Matuê, Cabelinho and Karol Conká will also pass through the Interlagos Autodrome stage, located in the south of São Paulo.
The presentation of Ret is part of the “Nume Tour”, with which the rapper promotes the albums “Nume” and, having been released on July 17. The tour began on August 22, with a show in São João de Meriti, Rio de Janeiro, and has dates scheduled until February 15, when he performs in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais.
HAS CNNRet explained that the new tour brings visuals, identity, light, bandwidth and different arrangements than he used to work before. The idea is to explore the Brazilianness of the melodies he brings in his work, joining the band’s harmony with the hip-hop scrath.
“This is the challenge. Now is to take to the show. We are just this time to transform and bring to life the songs that, when I throw the album, I consider that they are projects, in fact. They are alive even at the show,” said the rapper.
“Nume – Epilogue” came to complete the trilogy composed of the “Nume” and “Lume” records and plunges into the Universe of KGL, named for the region of the neighborhoods of Catete, Gloria and Lapa, in Rio de Janeiro. The project returns to the scene that formed Ret as an artist and brings a contemporary guise to this identity.
Ret defended the importance of localism for rap growth over the decades. That is, for the carioca, the genre also gained projection because the artists talk about where they came and celebrate their achievements proudly of their origins.
“It has a great identification in this approach of the rap discourse with people, with the people is connected. It has popularized the genre worldwide,” he explained.
Despite sharing the main stage with Travis Scott, which is one of the big names in the global RAP and Trap scene, Reta values national production. He argues that this happened with football, Brazilians created their own way of rap, with much of the national identity.
We already have this very established national rap. “I have some discussions with the people in my midst and sometimes they want to compare us with someone outside. If we are not comparable to someone outside, it seems that we are doing something that does not exist. In fact, national rap is very rich, very original.
