Paramount Pictures announced the full cast of the new film adaptation, scheduled to open in October 2026. The highlight was the choice of Blanka, a character that represents Brazil in the game franchise. The film will be set in 1993 and marks the first project of the agreement between Paramount, Legendary and Developer Capcom. The direction is by Kitao Sakurai, known for the series Dave e Twisted Metal.
The proposal, according to the studio, is to rescue the nostalgic spirit of the 1990s and at the same time present history to a new generation. In the plot, Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters () will fight again after being recruited by Chun-Li (Callina Liang) to participate in the global warrior tournament. The competition, however, hides a deadly conspiracy that forces the characters to face their own dilemmas.
