The singer Wiu, 23, performs this Saturday (6) on the Factory stage of The Town 2025 and talked to CNN About what you have prepared for your show in the second edition of the Paulistano Festival. On the same date, names such as Lauryn Hill (invites Yg Marley and Zion Marley), Travis Scott, Matuê, Cabelinho and Karol Conká will also pass through the Interlagos racetrack, located in the south of São Paulo.
The artist of Ceará said that he created a specific show for the, considering the stage, and the time he will perform. The idea is to bring special appearances from other artists, reverence Ceará and enjoy singing songs that is usually left out of the usual setlist of their shows.
“I really believe that the appreciation of several tracks, which have never been so explored live, but has a giant potential. On other occasions, on shows that can not miss the big hits, I usually have no time to explore this. My songs that already have a biggest exhibition is also contemplated in this show, without a doubt. CNN.
“I really like to use the slang of my land, to bring it to the fullest, so that it is to the fullest. I think that’s what keeps my original cut, the way you can honor your place.”
With this choice, Wiu goes against what national artists usually do at festivals, which is only focusing on already consecrated songs, capable of winning the audience that is not necessarily at the festival just to see them. We expect to see what he already features normally in the show “Wiu World” with small surprises designed for the event.
Trap no The Town
The Town, like Rock in Rio and Lollapalooza, is another festival that bends to the world of Trap and separates a specific day for the genre. In the conversation with CNNWiu looked back and remembered when, at the beginning of his career, he tried to project with Matuê – another of the big names in Brazil – if Trap could pierce the bubble.
“We have been 20 little houses since this question, so I can only be happier and happier. Trap is much more than a fad. Every year that passes the genre evolves and I think the rap itself is increasingly recognized as something well done, professional, which has space on a stage as much as any other genre,” said the singer.
Dividing line-up with Travis Scott
Wiu is a declared fan of Travis Scott and had already declared the CNN That of the US trapper to think of his latest release, “808 Club”, released in May this year. This will be the second time the singer will share the line-up with his idol, as the two also performed on the same day in the last edition of Rock in Rio.
“I even tattooed a bro phrase here recently, it’s ‘Lack Your Ambition Carry You’, which is ‘let your ambition carry you’, the phrase of his song,” said Wiu. “I remember he took the money his mother sent to pay for college and started setting up a hidden studio. When his mother discovered, she cut the money, he had to turn his bed into a cabin to record. They are roots that come from the same thing.”
“Urban music, rap, street music comes from this, from this spirit regardless of you can do something very starting from a very small point, where you often have to be the first.”
Despite the reverence, Wiu also defends the national trap and says that the strong presence of Brazilian names in the line-ups of major festivals proves the quality of what is done here.
“He’s in the same line is just another proof that Brazilian music, street music, rap is as grand as anything that comes from outside, and shares the same motivation and gives the same happiness.”
