Although the rinsing liquid tempts with the smell and the promise of softness, in the case of towels it works in the opposite. It sticks fabric fibers, creating a layer that blocks absorbency and makes the towel stiff and unpleasant to the touch. Over time, even freshly washed towels can have an unpleasant smell and lose fluffiness.
Added to this are other errors: too much detergent, washing at too high temperature, overloaded washing machine and hard water. All this makes the towels lose their softness. Instead of rinsing liquid, reach for proven, home methods. Spirit vinegar, baking soda, glycerin or citric acid will make your towels soft. Why do they work and how to use them?
- Vinegar dissolves deposits from detergents and stone, softens fibers and has antibacterial properties. All you need is half a glass of poured into the rinsing liquid compartment.
- Glycerin (3 tablespoons) added to the laundry acts as a balm for fabrics, moisturizes it and tones it
- Citric acid is an ideal option for sensitive ones. It softens water, refreshes fabrics and does not leave a smell. Pour 3 tablespoons of lemon powder into the washing machine drum.
- Baking soda removes unpleasant odors and residues of detergents, restoring freshness and softness. Add half a glass to the container for detergents or directly to the washing machine drum.
All these ways are natural, ecological, and above all cheap. You will feel the difference not only in the softness of the towels, but also in the content of the wallet.
