Hugo Motta publishes video on independence and political balance

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), published on Sunday (7) a video on social networks in which he defends institutional balance and political pacification as ways for true independence of Brazil.

The message was released on the same day Motta participated in the September 7 celebrations in the Ministries Esplanade, along with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT).

In the one and a half minute video, published in Reels format on Instagram, Motta states that “the best way to defend Brazil is working for it independently and balanced.”

In the caption, it reinforces that the country needs unity to overcome divisions and deliver concrete results to the population.

“Everyone knows the scream that marked our history. But today, in such a divided Brazil, what is the true cry of independence we need to give? True independence is to have balance,” says Motta in the video.

The parliamentarian also pointed out that good ideas can come from any political spectrum – left, right or center – and that the role of Congress is to build bridges, not feed disputes.

“In a country that looks more like a battlefield, to have independence is to choose not to fight a narrative war, but to work to deliver the result,” he said.

During the civic-military parade, part of the public present in the Esplanade shouted “no amnesty”, in reference to the proposal being discussed in Congress to amnesty those involved in the attacks of January 8.

Motta has been pressured by opposition parliamentarians to guide the project, which divides opinions between governors and allies of former President Jair Bolsonaro.

The discussion of amnesty gained strength with the trial of the so-called “coup plot” in the Federal Supreme Court, which involves Bolsonaro, former advisors and military accused of attempted coup.
