Russia launched the largest air strike in the war in Ukraine on Sunday night (7) and hit a Kiev government building for the first time, as reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.
In total, 810 drones, four ballistic missiles and nine cruise missiles were fired. Although most were slaughtered by the air defenses, 54 drones and nine missiles hit targets throughout Ukraine.
This surpasses the size of a July attack, which was the largest of the war, which began with the large -scale invasion of Russia to its neighbor in February 2022.
At least two people died in the attack, including a child under one year old. Drones also reached residential buildings in the capital, which was on the alert of air strike for 11 hours.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko classified bombing as a “massive attack,” claiming that the cities of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, Kremenchuk and Odesa have been the target of attacks, as did Kiev.
In the capital, the building that houses the prime minister’s office, as well as some government ministries, was hit. “For the first time, the government building, its roof and the upper floors were damaged by enemy attacks. Rescue teams are erasing the fire. I thank them for the work,” he said. The building is in the government of Kiev, next to Parliament and near the president’s office.
A nine -story apartment building in the Sviatoshynskyi district was “severely damaged,” Kiev mayor Vitali Klitschko said in a Telegram post. He also reported that four floors of the building were “partially destroyed”. “Also in the Sviatoshynskyi district, wreckage hit a 16 -story residential building, causing a fire on the 15th and 16th floors,” he said.
On Sunday morning, Polish and allied aircraft were called in to ensure the safety of Polish airspace due to Russian attacks in western Ukraine, near the Poland border, according to information from the country’s Armed Forces, according to Reuters.
“Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, while land defense land systems and radar recognition have been placed at their highest level of readiness,” said the Polish operational command in a publication on the X social network.
