Macron does not like to act under pressure and could take his reaction to the government fall. The head of state is not forced to immediately appoint a successor to Bayrou, since the constitution does not prescribe a deadline in this regard. A year ago, Macron had chosen the Gaullisten Michel Barnier as a premier until two months after the previous government fall. Now Macron should be even more inclined not to get stuck quickly.
