Tarcisio has been seeking to ensure the support of Bolsonaro and his family to run for presidency in 2026, as he is suspiciously seen by (PL-SP) and part of the root wing of the pockets.
Ibaneis said that the choice of who will be the representative of the right field in next year’s election will be collegiate, but defended the name of the governor of São Paulo.
“He is a person who, even having the support there on the part of the Bolsonaro family, who has been slowly revealing himself, he has every condition to lead the country to a pacification. I think we have conditions to go forward. If it was to choose my candidate, I would choose Tarcisio. But this is a decision that we will make in a collegiate way,” said Ibaneis.
He further stated that amnesty would be a way of pacifying the country, but adopted caution when dealing with the subject, saying that it needs to be discussed by Congress. But he did not refuse to support this hypothesis and said it should be valid for Bolsonaro.
“If it is to have amnesty, it is the one proposed in the House, which is general and unrestricted, and hits President Bolsonaro,” he said. “What Tarcisio said, and I have confidence that he will be elected President of the Republic, is that he, the next day, promotes President Bolsonaro’s freedom, which is also possible,” said Ibaneis.
The governor also said that the security of the Federal District is prepared for any demonstrations that may occur in the coming days at Bolsonaro trial.
“Our security system is very prepared for all this, since the first week, with 24 hours monitoring of all social networks. With external monitoring through our Military Police, with intelligence of the Civil Police as well,” he said.
“So we are quite quiet from the point of view of security. As we had yesterday, on September 7, several demonstrations, including in our capital, and we had all the peace, all the tranquility, without any kind [de intercorrência].”
