The Czech Security Information Service BIS, in cooperation with Hungary and Romania, broke the Belarusian news network in Europe. They expelled the Belarusian officer under diplomatic coverage.
The Czech Security Information Service (BIS), together with the news services of Romania and Hungary, broke the Belarusian news network built in Europe. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic therefore decided to expose the Belarusian intelligence officer, who was in the country under the coverage of a diplomat. According to BIS chief Michal Koudelka, it is necessary to limit the movement of accredited diplomats from Russia and Belarus in Schengen. Czech counterintelligence reported on the case on Monday, writes TASR newsletter in Prague.
According to the findings of the BIS intelligence network in Europe, the Belarusian news service KGB (State Security Committee) was built. However, her efforts to obtain news information were noticed by local intelligence services. According to Koudelka, this is another of many cases that shows how the international cooperation of secret services is essential in the current security situation.
Revelation of spies
The joint team of European newsletters revealed, among other things, members of the KGB who worked in several countries. These included, for example, former Deputy Moldovan Intelligence Service (SIS), who, according to BIS, gave KGB classified information. The Czech counterintelligence said that the Agency network managed to build the agency network mainly because they could move freely around Europe.
“In order to successfully face these hostile activities in Europe, we need to limit the movement of accredited diplomats from Russia and Belarus in the territory of the Schengen area,” Koudelka stressed. He added that intelligence services from these countries are still trying to use diplomatic coverage and will continue to try to increase their presence in Europe.
The European Agency Eurojust is supervised by the joint intelligence operation.
