Renown Figure of the right -wing youth, the young man died after being shot during an event at Utah Valley University in the west of the country
The president of Donald Trump, accused the “radical left” rhetoric of having contributed to the murder shots on Wednesday (10) of one of his faithful political allies, the influencer whom he classified as a “martyr of truth.” Kirk, 31 and a renowned figure of right -wing youth, died after being shot during an event at Utah Valley University in the west of the country. According to the FBI, a suspect was arrested and released later on Wednesday night. The search for the gunman continues and the motives of the attack have not yet been clarified.
“For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie with Nazis and the worst mass killers and criminals in the world,” he said In a video published hours after the attack on its Social Truth platform. “This kind of rhetorical is directly responsible for the terrorism we are seeing in our country today, and should stop now,” he said. The agent promised that his government “will find each of those who contributed to this atrocity and other political violence, including the organizations that fund them and support them.”
Like Trump, several names on the American right referred to Kirk as a “martyr” fallen in defense of conservative and Christian values. The tragedy was captured by several videos that, in seconds, flooded social networks. In them, Kirk appears speaking under a tent in front of thousands of people when he hears the sound of a single shot. In the recording, you see Kirk falling from his chair and hear screams of panic among the audience. “The big, and even legendary Charlie Kirk, died,” Trump wrote in his social truth network. “No one understood or conquered the heart of the youth of the United States better than Charlie,” he added.
Source of Blood ‘
The attack occurred near noon during an event organized by the turning Point USA movement, co-founded by Kirk. About 3,000 people were on the campus when the activist was shot, commented Jeff Long, the institution’s police chief. Videos that circulated on social networks show Kirk sitting in a chair on a stage when hit, and his body slides to the side. Beau Mason, from the Utah Public Security Department, said the shot probably came from a roof, and that the closed circuit cameras recorded a suspect “dressed in dark clothes.”
Former Utah Meal Jason Chaffetz, who was present in the rally, told Fox News that the shooting attack occurred during a question and answers session. “The first question was about religion. He spoke for about 15, 20 minutes. The second question, curiously, was about transgender gunmen, mass gunmen, and in the middle of that, the shot was heard,” said Chaffetz. “He was shot in the neck and fell, and was a source of blood,” Sophie Anderson, 45, told Daily Mail.
Kirk had a great influence on American politics and helped Trump increase his support among younger voters, one of the key factors in the return of the Republican to the White House. With a natural talent for the show, in 2012 Kirk cofunder the Turning Point USA to boost conservative points of view among young people, becoming the favorite spokesman for the far right in television networks and conferences. His presence in the student campuses was welcome by right-wing supporters as a counterpoint to the voices on the left, but also triggered an intense opposition.
‘Political murder’
Trump ordered the flags to be raised in half mast in the federal government buildings until Sunday. Utah’s governor Spencer Cox said it was “a political murder.” “We need everyone in this country to reflect on where we are and where we want to go. We need to ask ourselves: is that what leaves us 250 years of history?” Commented the Republican governor.
United States Vice President Jd Vance asked Kirk’s “eternal rest”, while Senator and leader of the Republican majority, John Thune, said he was “horrified.” Left voices also condemned the attack. “There is no place in our country for this kind of violence. It must stop now,” former Democratic President Joe Biden wrote. California governor Gavin Newsom, who even discussed ideas with Kirk in his podcast, classified the attack as “disgusting, vile and objectionable,” and former vice-president Kamala Harris condemned “political violence.”
