Former president he was convicted of five crimes, including the coup; Voting took place in the first class of the Supreme this Thursday (11)
Governors listed to run for the Presidency of the Republic in 2026 reacted to the decision of the First Class of the (STF), who ordered the former president (PL) 4-1, on Thursday (11), for five crimes, including the coup. With an eye on the retired captain’s electoral estate, presidentials have intensified nods to his base, defending guidelines such as the “broad, general and unrestricted amnesty” to the defendants of the acts of 8 January and the so -called “hard core”.
The governor of, (Republicans), stated in his social networks that the conviction of the former president hurts the “principle of presumption of innocence”, as “without proof” was rendered. According to him, the result of the trial “was already known” and Bolsonaro was being the victim of “disproportionate penalties.” Tarcisio again aligns with radical pockets and attacked the Supreme. “The story will be in charge of dismantling the narratives and justice will still prevail. Force, President. We will continue by his side,” he wrote on Thursday night. Recently, the governor had called the minister, rapporteur of the case, “tyrant” during a demonstration on Paulista Avenue.
Another name quoted for the 2026 elections, the governor of, (PSD), defended political “pacification” and criticized what he classified as a persecution of Bolsonaro. “Brazil needs to be pacified, and this also involves strengthening our institutions, which must act with balance and based on the Democratic Rule of Law. The Brazilian people cannot be hostage to dogmas. In fact, the population is not happy with the persecution of a former president,” he said. He added that “the need to turn the hatred, the delay, the fight and to write a new time” and declared solidarity with Bolsonaro and his family.
The governor of (new) also attacked the decision of the Supreme Court. “Justice or Inquisition? The conviction of Bolsonaro for the first class of the STF stems the division of the country, and that is not what we need,” he said in a publication on social networks.
The governor of, (União Brasil), said that the decision of the first class of the Supreme Court confirmed a result that was, according to him, “anticipated”. “Once again, I deeply regret the conviction of former President Jair Bolsonaro by the Supreme Court. I say ‘once again’ because this conviction had already been, in some way,: first, when it was denied the right to defend itself publicly; then, when even his right to come and go was restricted,” he said in a statement.
Caiado argued that the trial occurred in the court plenary, as the minister expressed in his vote, “where all could manifest and the different interpretations of the case would be properly debated.” He reiterated the defense of amnesty to all convicts of the acts of 8 January, promising that, if elected president, he will sign the measure on the first day of his term. “Only in this way can we achieve the peace necessary to build a government of conciliation, focusing on the future, dedicated to facing the real problems of Brazilians and promoting true progress for our people,” he said.
