Slovakia supported the proposal of the Declaration of Settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict

The UN has adopted the New York Declaration supporting a two -state conflict resolution. Slovakia supported the declaration, while Israel and the US were against it.

The UN General Assembly received the so -called Friday. The New York Declaration, which supports the two-state solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict without the participation of the militant Hamas movement. According to the AFP report, TASR reports this.

The resolution was adopted by 142 votes behind, ten against – among them Hungary, Israel and its ally of the US – and 12 countries abstained, including the Czech Republic. The declaration was submitted by France and Saudi Arabia and Slovakia supported it.

Condemnation of Hamas attacks

The text with the official name “The New York Declaration on Peace Security Palestine and the implementation of a two -state solution” states that “Hamas must release all hostages” and that the UN VZ condes “Hamas attacks on civilians from October 7” 2023.

It also calls on taking “common steps in order to end the war in the Gaza Strip and the achievement of a fair, peaceful and permanent settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian dispute on the basis of a solution to two states”.

Support of League of Arab States

The announcement was also approved by the League of Arab States (LaS) and signed by 17 UN Member States, including several Arab countries. “In the context of the end of the Gaza war, Hamas must end his government in Gaza and hand over the weapons of the Palestinian self -government with international participation and support in accordance with the aim of the sovereign and independent Palestinian state,” the declaration said.

The vote is preceded by the UN summit, which will be jointly chaired by Riyadh and Paris on 22 September in New York, where French President Emmanuel Macron promised the official recognition of the existence of the Palestinian state, recalls AFP.
