Tavira was the stage, between September 4 and 7, of the XI Mediterranean Diet Fair, event marked by the presentation of project results funded by the Plan of Recovery and Resilience (PRR) and the dissemination of the governance model of the National Network for balanced and sustainable food (RNAES).
One of the central moments of the event took place on September 5, with the seminar “Innovation and Sustainability in the Mediterranean Diet”, at the Tavira Agricultural Experimentation Center, promoted by the Mediterranean Diet Skills Center (CCDM).
The session brought together investigators, producers and public decision makers, who got to know the advances of eight PRR projects: RNAES, Red Fruit4health, Revitalgarve, Certra, Harvest, Agrovila, Prado Mushrooms to the dish and Oakfood.
During the fair, at the CCDM stand, the public had the opportunity to get to know these projects better and participate in awareness activities, reinforcing the connection between science, agricultural production and consumers.
Also on the 5th, at the Tavira Club, the RNAES Governance model was presented, a decisive step to structure and streamline this national network dedicated to the promotion of healthy and sustainable food systems.
Pedro Valadas Monteiro, from, stressed that “the seminar reinforced the link between science, agricultural production and public policies, ensuring that the Mediterranean diet remains a model of sustainability and health”.
With these initiatives, the XI Mediterranean Diet Fair reaffirmed its role as a central meeting space and sharing on the Mediterranean diet in Portugal, placing innovation and cooperation at the center of responses to food and environmental challenges.
