The magnitude earthquake of 7.4 hit the coast of the Russian Far -East Peninsula Kamchatka on Saturday morning, the American Geological Institute (USGC) said. According to the AFP and AP reports, TASR reports this.

According to the Institute, the earthquake epicenter is located 111 kilometers east of the capital of the Kamchat region Petropavlovsk-Kamčatsky at a depth of 39.5 kilometers.

The American Center for the Tsunami said that “dangerous” waves with a height of up to one meter are possible along the Russian coast in a circuit 300 kilometers from the epicenter. Japan, Hawaii and other islands in the Pacific Ocean may record waves with a height of less than 30 centimeters, the center added.

In July, the sixth strongest earthquake has been on the peninsula of Kamchatka since the beginning of measurements with magnitude 8.8. It was also the strongest earthquake since 2011, when the magnitude shocks 9.0 hit the east coast of Japan. The earthquake in Kamchatka caused waves and tsunami in July. Several states, including Japan, USA, Mexico or Philippines, issued a warning. Significant damage or injuries were not recorded.
