The result confirms the force of Wang Chuqin, number 2 in the world

He played his thousandth international match in Simples on Sunday (14) and failed to overcome the Chinese, staying with the Macao WTT runner-up. The Brazilian was defeated by 4 sets to 0, with partials of 9/11, 11/7, 11/9 and 11/4, in 36 minutes of play. Despite the setback, Calderano keeps the excellent sequence of the season. The Brazilian started the competition in fourth place in the world ranking and, upon reaching the decision, managed to climb to third position.

One of today’s best tablet, Wang Chuqin showed consistency and control throughout the match. He took advantage of the withdrawal, reached the third ball in the decisive moments and kept rhythm intense, giving little opportunities to Calderano.

The Brazilian tried to react, especially when he had the service, but found a very solid opponent, who explored third balls and quick finishes close to the network. In the third set, for example, he managed to balance the partial and reach 10 to 9, but Wang closed the decisive point with a precise finish, showing confidence in key moments. Calderano still sought to vary the speed and placement of the ball, but could not break the resistance of the Chinese, which maintained the full control of the match.

The result confirms the force of Wang Chuqin, number 2 of the world, which expands the dominion over Calderano, fourth placed, in recent confrontations. The two have faced each other seven times, with the Brazilian winning only two matches.

Since April, Calderano has won four titles in six tournaments played – including the World Cup, the WTT Star Contender Ljubljana, the WTT Contender Buenos Aires and the Star Contender Foz do Iguaçu – and adds 30 wins in 32 games.
